Vanessa Wicks

I have been a member of the Golden Bay Primary School Board since its inception in 2015. I joined the board as my husband and I have lived in Golden Bay for nine years and we have 3 children who either currently attend GBPS, or will in the near future. enjoy representing the parent community to set the strategic direction of the school.

I have a Bachelor of Human Resource Management and have spent much of my career employed in the Oil and Gas and Mining industries. In my work I manage a $40 million operational budget, I develop business plans and I implement continuous improvement plans. I bring this experience to being a member of the school board.

In my younger days, I served 6 years in the Royal Australian Navy working as an Avionics Technician on Seahawk Helicopters. I have travelled extensively around Australia, and overseas and I have lived in many different locations.. I love seeing the world and I enjoy running long distance.

I am a mother of 3 fast growing children, ages 13,11 and 8 and also work full time in an insurance broking business as an Insurance Broker.

We have lived in Golden Bay for 11 years and chose the coastal lifestyle to raise my family. I find Golden Bay to be a peaceful and a connected community to be a part of.

I have been an active member of the Golden Bay Progress Association for 10 years which helps support and connect the community. I was also part of running the local Playgroup for several years.

I really enjoy establishing new relationships within the community and finding ways to bring together people and their families.
